Grey Gradient & Grey Grid
Mirela Duta’s current practice investigates the complex relationship between the concepts of ‘autonomy’, ‘validation’, and ‘success’ through the artist’s perspective when confronted with internal and external challenges.
The artist immersion into colourful, complex and juxtaposed geometric abstraction explored through the lengthy processes behind the production of the work, enables her to analyse, reflect and understand the contrasting, and often incompatible, aspects influencing artists’ identities, their careers and personal commitments.
Thus, through the myriad of small and repetitive squares, the artworks display hand drawn structured compositions sitting across various surfaces, which ultimately interfere and alter the final outcome of the work.
