TWO CUBES
Mild and stainless steel
2018
Artist statement
TWO CUBES was made through recycling materials from past artworks. It was an exploration into the properties of different metals; particularly the rust resistance of stainless steel. It was inspired by the early works of British sculptor Tony Cragg and film director Terry Gilliam.
It was made through recycling materials from previous artworks and finding materials from scrapyards, which is something I do frequently within my practice as a sculptor. Using discarded metal suits my style of work, specifically, the line between the desirable and the abject.
Dimensions: 65 x 25 x 45cm
Weight: 18kg
Price: £1099

DISSIMILAR 312
Stainless steel
2019
Artist statement
DISSIMILAR 312 is made using stainless steel pipe I sourced from scrap yards, which is something I do frequently in my practice as a sculptor. The overall appearance of the work captures the frustration and anxiety of making a finalized work with challenging materials and timeframes, which all artists face at some point within their career. It also starts a dialogue surrounding reclamation of discarded waste, highlighting the stark cruxes of our human condition. The work named after the electrodes used to MMA weld stainless steel.
